WELCOME BACK, CAM! || LET’S TALK WHAT’S NEW & 2019 GOALS

Hello, everyone and welcome back to my blog! Last year, I took an unscheduled hiatus to focus on family and mental health. To be honest, I was experiencing a major blogging burn out which I was ignoring for a long while. I had also been struggling with my mental illness for months. So, trust me when I say that it is very, very important to listen to that first hint of unease.

What I didn’t realize back then was that what had once begun as fun has turned into a chore for me. I was constantly pushing myself to achieve unrealistic goals and then berating myself for failing. I didn’t try to understand what my work routine was nor did I praise myself enough for the small victories. I had started this blog to create a safe space for readers but in the process had forgotten to create that for myself as well.

This year I want to change that. This year, I will take my time so that achieving goals is a learning process rather than a mad dash. So below I’m sharing some reading, writing, and blogging goals.

READING GOALS

This year I want to focus less on the number of books I read. Instead, I want to choose more classics and backlisted books! So, I’m not yet sure I’ll be participating in reading challenges besides the Goodreads reading challenge.

  1. SET A REALISTIC READING GOAL i.e. 50 BOOKS FOR 2019
  2. BEGIN READING THE WHEEL OF TIME
  3. READ ONE CLASSIC BOOK EACH MONTH
  4. READ A NON-FICTION BOOK EACH MONTH

WRITING GOALS

In December I FINALLY finished writing the first draft of my Filipino mythology inspired Ghoul WIP. I’m now on to the scariest step of my writing which is having my people read it. There is a perpetual scream stuck in my throat because of this.

  1. EDIT PART I & II OF GHOUL WIP
  2. HAVE A WEEKLY SEGMENT DEDICATED TO MY WIP
  3. SELECT TWO ALPHA READERS FOR GHOUL WIP – PART I & II FEEDBACK SHOULD BE GIVEN

BLOGGING GOALS

With some new changes in my life, I’m a little unsure yet about what might happen to my blogging. The routine might end up changing eventually.

  1. PLAN A MONTHLY AUTHOR SEGMENT
  2. ACHIEVE A 10% HIGHER RATING ON NETGALLEY
  3. SCHEDULE WEEKLY BLOG HOPPING
  4. AIM TO ACHIEVE 1,500 BLOG FOLLOWERS
  5. LEARN MORE BLOGGING SKILLS

Hope you will enjoy your blogging and reading this year. It’s all about having fun. Good luck with your WIP! Very exciting, I just posted my reading resolutions today, but they are only a wishlist. I like having ideas 🙂 I would like to return to writing my novel, but whether I will or not I’m not sure.

I’m loving all your goals! Also, if you would like to read a classic a month with other readers, maybe check out the Classics N Christie club? Are you a part of it? I love your blogging goals so much especially where you want to learn more skills. All the best! ❤

Welcome back, Cam! I hope 2019 is a better year for you mentally. I feel like I’ve read so many posts where people talked about being burn out for 2018 – me included – and I really wish for the new year to treat us better.
I am also aiming for a smaller goal in 2019 – 40 books -, and I hope to achieve it. I’ve not been the best about reading non fiction in the past, but this is something I hope to change in the new year. For the past year, I became obsessed with watching docummentaries on Netflix. My favorite ones were The Beatles: Eight Days a Week and Get Me Roger Stone. I never thought I’d be interested in political docummentaries, but this sparked something on me and I hope to continue to watch docummentaries, as well as read more non-fiction/historical books.
Wishing you luck on all your 2019 goals! And definitely looking forward to read your WIP weekly segment; I love reading about other people’s writing, especially because I want to write more myself in the new year and I find inspiring to follow others’ process. Again, all the luck! Hopefully, 2019 will be much better than 2018! ✨

Yessss….I’ve had a busy January, so I haven’t been reading as much as I would like to. However, I did buy a nonfiction book called Hunger by Roxane Gay. Have you heard of it? I’m planning to read it this February. Ooooh I love watching documentaries! I’ll definitely check out Get Me Roger Stone. There’s a recent I watched but I forgot the name of. I’ll look it up and let you know. Ok, so not a documentary but I recently watched The Innocent Man on Netflix – I have quite a love for crime shows.

I hope your 2019 has started off well!

I have heard of Roxane Gay before! She’s one of my sister’s favorite authors, and she wrote an entire essay at college about her other book, Bad Feminist. I’ve never read anything by her, but I do plan on doing so, since my sister is constantly raving about her books.
Ohhh, I’m totally adding The Innocent Man to my to-watch Netflix list. Crime shows have never been my favorites, but I’ve been growing more interested in them as time passes, so hopefully, I’ll enjoy it when I check it out!

Those are very lovely goals! I hope you will reach them all.

mmmhh.. I set some goals mostly about real life stuff. And writing. Despite missing writing I’m fine taking a step back for other WIP stuff.
What is near my heart is the goald of 100 books. Janury was fine but the rest? I really don’t want to end like last year. It was a very oof reading year.

I really wish a more relaxed and blogging pleasant 2019 ❤
