Mabuhay, friends!
Let’s talk book accessories! I wish I could boast a huge collection of book-related merchandise like mugs, enamel pins, necklaces, or really, any other book-related trinkets. If there is anything I’d love to have, it would be a book sleeve! But sadly, all I have is a little pouch of stationaries that I carry along with my book.
Today, I’m going to share with you the little essential accessories that I always keep with me when reading a book!
BOOKMARKS
With the number of books I flit between I almost always have trouble remembering the specific page I’m at! Funnily enough, I don’t actually collect bookmarks. Though that is something to consider. Sadly, I lost my favourite bookmark a few months ago. It was a chain bookmark with a little cat on the end; it was gifted to me by my sister on my birthday. Ever since then I’ve been hoping to find a new one! So, if you have any bookmark shops to suggest whether on Etsy or in Australia, please let me know!
HIGHLIGHTERS & STICKY NOTES
I love annotating my books! I love marking scenes that I love or believe might play importance later in the story. I also mark worldbuilding or quotes that I want to remember. Annotating books is one way I study the book I’m reading. As a writer, I tend to analyze how an author planned out the plot, the character arcs or how they plotted the novel’s foreshadowing.

THE FOREST APP
My phone is my biggest vice. Not only do I use it to manage my blog and my social media platforms but it is also my communication tool with my family. When reading, I make it a point to switch on the Forest app as it would keep me from accessing chats or anything else on my phone.

BOOK STAMP
Considering how much I love annotating my books, I don’t think anyone should be surprised that I finally got myself a book stamp! After years of writing my name in books – which I found unflattering! – I made the decision to gift myself a little book stamp! Look at how pretty it is. I purchased the stamp from Crea8tiveRubberStamp through Etsy.

LAMP
I actually don’t use my lamp all that much since I prefer reading on my Kindle if I’m in bed and can’t sleep. But having a lamp is essential during dreary days or for evenings when you just don’t want to switch on the lights.

PLANNER
As a blogger, having my planner on hand is non-negotiable. Although I don’t stick to a strict TBR I do make it a point to get to my review copies as soon as I can. The way I deal with my review copies has changed since my first year as a blogger but that’s something to talk about in another post! In my planner, I keep track of review copies and their publication dates. Being able to see that helps me plan when I should start reading the ARC.

Ahh that book stamp is gorgeous! I personally don’t like adding my name in books so no stamps for me. But I do love making and collecting bookmarks which are sprawled all over my house and I’ve lost so many of them by keeping them in a book and then forgetting 😛

Hahaha I’ve made that mistake so many times, Charvi! I really need a small pouch or box just to store all my bookmarks in!

Personally I don’t use bookmarks since I have kids, because they love pulling them out to look at them 😦 My kids are still very little. I used to make them. It’s very easy, with good drawing paper, pretty cut out pictures from magazines and lots of paper glue to also use as varnish on top as well. It lasts surprisingly long and you don’t have to be good at drawing 😀

Oh, no! Ooooh that is interesting! Would it look something similar to like a scrapbook but in bookmark format? Sorry, hope that makes sense!

I don’t really highlight my books, so sticky notes and tabs are definitely my best friend! 😀

Oh my gosh, your book stamp is so cute! I’ve never seen that before. What a neat idea. One of my key book accessories is a little tin of ‘book darts’. They’re tiny page markers that you slip over the edge of a page to point to specific lines. (This is useful for me cos I don’t like marking up my books :P)

Oh! Book darts sound really cool! I just looked them up and they are so pretty!

That book stamp is so adorable 😍 I used to put bookplates in my books when I was little so I love the idea of a stamp. I don’t have a lot of accessories for books but I can’t live without bookmarks (obviously) and my book sleeve. It’s saved so many of my paperbacks from getting bent or torn when I put them in my bag.

This is such a smart post – I wish I came up with something like this!
Your book stamp is gorgeous ❤ I used to use stickers, but now I prefer not to mark my books at all (I don't annotate them or anything).
For me, I usually have to have music playing in the background – it sets me in a calm, reading mood.

I love this post so much, Camillea! I am sorry you lost your bookmark, it sounds truly special. I don’t really go out of my way to get bookmarks but have a ton from preorder campaigns and book boxes. Which helps — but I also keep track of the page I left off on with Goodreads updates.
I am in LOVE with the rubber stamp, that is the coolest thing ever and now I need to get one for myself!

I’m not that big on bookish merch, but I definitely always have a bookmark on hand! Most of my bookmarks are just made of paper and have been collected from my library or book events. And since I have more than enough bookmarks in my collection through all these free resources, I don’t think I’ve ever purchased a bookmark!
But recently I’ve started accumulating a whole bunch of book sleeves! I’m very careful about protecting my books whenever I take them places, and so book sleeves have been a life saver! Even if I’m just taking a book to an event to get signed, I still love knowing that my book is safe and sound in my backpack since it’s all wrapped up in a beautifully crafted sleeve!

I love how books sometimes come with free bookmarks! Especially like how Book Depository does that.

Omg Cam, I just recently discovered that I’ve lost one of my fave bookmarks as well & I’m devastated, because the Etsy store I got it from is now permanently closed 😭 I actually make my own bookmarks – if you flick me your address via my e-mail (ngoct_tran@yahoo.com.au) I can send you some for free! A girl can NEVER have too many 😉💛
That book stamp is gorgeous! I have an embosser with a similar design as well 😍
